NH Feature: Abimbola

Hey hunnies! Thank God it’s Friday. It’s been a busy week for me with school and this blog but thank God in all. Today on Natural Hair Inspiration, we’re featuring Abimbola who rocks a TWA, enjoy.

Tell me about yourself.

My name is Iwaeni Abimbola, 400 level microbiology student of Bowen University, Nigeria. I love makeup and fashion.

Describe your hair before going natural.

My hair was absolutely fine, soft and long.

Why did you go natural?

I went natural because I wanted something new, fresh, different, edgy and above all I wanted to change my life and I must say it has been a life changing experience for me. I know some people might be like why are you going all emotional about cutting your hair. Really this hair thing has tested my patience. Especially when it comes to length, the craziest thing about it is I can’t do anything about the length, I just have to wait for it to grow and I’m also trying out new products.

Did you BC or transition?

I big chopped, it was a Wednesday, I went to the saloon with long hair and I came out bald, I took my wig with me, because I didn’t know how I was going to look bald and I wasn’t ready for the ho’s, ha’s and “what in the hell were you thinking” question on why I cut my own hair like its theirs.

How long have you been natural?

3 and the half months, I have a full fro now.

Tell me about your hair now; hair type, hair properties, hair likes and dislikes.

I don’t know my hair type, the curl pattern is tight, and slim (kinky I guess). Well I really like my hair, except the length but I’m rocking the TWA look and I still have toasters 😀

What’s your hair regimen like?
Conditioner, hair cream and styling gel and a comb, just the norms.

Holy Grail products? Share.

How often do you wear your hair out?

Err… I really can’t stand weaves since I big chopped so two weeks protective styling and I’m back to my short hair for another one week and it goes on.

Have you been tempted to pick a relaxer at any point?

Have you received negatice comments about your hair?

Yes, there is this one time my lecturer asked if I own a comb, lol, apart from that everybody including my dad loves it, and in any case of bad belle (negative comment) I strangle them with my eyes 🙂

Any tips or tricks you want to share? We’re willing to learn.

Nope, I don’t have any.

I’m giving her the TWA Hi5!

For this weekend, I’d leave you with this verse from the Bible.

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:6.
