Welcome welcome welcome! Today we’re featuring Patrice on Natural Hair Inspiration. Enjoy!
Tell me about yourself.
My name is Patrice and I am a 3rd grade teacher at a private Christian School in Maryland. I have been a teacher for 11 years and I absolutely LOVE it! I’m also really inspired by natural hair! Having the ability to change up my look is absolutely amazing!
Describe your hair before going natural.
Before going natural I had a perm. I usually did the perm myself but eventually I grew tired of the curling, trimming, and coloring I did to my hair regularly.
I went natural because I grew tired of the constant process of perming my hair. I met a woman who was natural in Whole Foods one day and her hair was just so gorgeous. It was wavy and very thick. I stopped her and inquired about her beautiful mane. We exchanged numbers that day and she actually gave me courage to venture into this journey. That was 2010.
Did you BC or transition?
I did the BC April 2010.
How long have you been natural for?
I have been natural for 3 years.
Tell me about your hair now; hair type, hair properties, hair likes or dislikes?
I have a combination on 4b/4c hair. It’s very kinky curly and frizzy. I absolutely love my texture because I can do so much with it. My hair likes coconut oil, water, and ASIAM twisting cream. I’m currently rocking a protective style to give my hair a break. I’m wearing ONYC hair and it’s kinky/curly Mongolian Hair.
What’s your hair regimen like?
I spritz my hair with water, two-strand twist it, and I let it sit over night. In the morning I gently unravel the twists and fluff it out with argan oil.

How often do you wear your hair out?
All the time.
Have you been tempted to pick that relaxer at any point?
NEVER 🙂
Have you received negative comments about your hair?
Ironically no! People always stop me and tell me how much they love my hair. That’s whether I’m rocking a short look or a big fro.
Any tips or tricks you want to share? We’re willing to learn!
Buy a tangle teezer for your locks. It does wonders! Sleep on a satin pillow case, and drink tons of water.
Don’t go! How can we still keep in touch?
