Holllllaaaaaa senioritas! It’s a wonderful week ahead, let’s make the most of it. :*
When in doubt, do a review, lol, I don’t have news about my hair or style so I’m stacking on the reviews.
I’d be reviewing Sofn’Free Nothing But Intense Healing Mask which is AB of thekinkandi ‘s staple deep conditioner, read her review here.
Let the review begin!
Product: Sofn’free GrowHealthy Nothing But Intense Healing Mask.
Product information: Be honest. You’ve noticed that your hair is thinner, breaks easily and what’s with all the shedding? Time for Sofn’free GroHealthy’s Intense Healing Mask. Made with nothing but simple ingredients, it penetrates deeply to repair, soothe and smooth damaged, brittle hair. In no time, your curls will bounce back with renewed health and vigor.
I liked this product description, like they were marketing the product to me directly.
Product promise: Repairs weak, fragile hair, real help for transitioning.
For all my transitioning sisters, please try this and let’s know if it works for your mane.
Size: 16 oz.
Ingredients: Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Oil, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Fragrance (Parfum), Acetamide MEA, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Panthenol, Propylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Sodium Cocoyl Collagen Amino Acid, Cocoyl Sarcosine, Wheat Germ Acid, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Linolenic Acid, Linoleic Acid, Sulfur, Polysorbate 80, Oleth-10, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycansance, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, d-Limonene, Linalool, Citral.
Hydrolyzed Keratin is its 11th ingredient so it’s low on protein.
Contains no petrolatum, mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, colorants, phthalates but does have a lot of chemicals.
For a more detailed information about each of the ingredients, check here.
Smell: It has this slight mint smell, I like it.
Consistency: Like a medium-thick butter, it’s best applied when hair is dripping wet and not damp.
Price: N2500.
Where to buy: I bought mine from Olori, Sizzelle stocks also but they’re both out of stock, however check Thekinkandi.
How I use: To DC, I’ve used it alone, I’ve used it mixed with Aphogee Balancing Moisturizer, I’ve used it mixed with honey, EVOO & EVCO. I apply it to damp but slightly wet hair, put on a plastic bag and usually leave it on for a maximum of two hours then rinse.
The Good:
- The smell! It smells really nice but doesn’t linger.
- I love tubs so the fact this product comes in a tub is a win for me, it just makes accessibility easier.
- It moisturizes my hair to a T.
The Bad:
- I bought this product to strengthen my hair, it did not strengthen my hair at all. I gave this product three tries: alone, mixed with a balancing moisturizer and mixed with honey but it didn’t work at all.
- It does not repair anything, my hair only feels moisturized but not repaired.
- I’m not a fan of the thickness (consistency), sometimes it’s difficult to apply unless mixed with honey.
- It worked best when mixed with honey and etc, it wasn’t all that moisturizing when used alone.
Will I buy again?
For now, no, till they remove that “strengthens” from their label and stick to “moisturizes”, I’d pass.
I feel NH product companies should be true to what they advertise on their products, if it’s a moisturizing product, state it, if it’s a high protein based product, state it still, people who will buy, will buy.
I really wanted this conditioner to work for me in that AB swears by it but I don’t have that kind of energy needed in trying to make a product what it’s not.
If you need a protein based conditioner, I wouldn’t say you shouldn’t buy this but, check for a product with Hydrolyzed Protein (within the first to fifth position) in its ingredient list, however, this is a good moisturizing conditioner.
I honestly can’t recommend this product to someone dealing with breakage or someone who needs a protein treatment/strengthening conditioner.
Have you used Nothing But Intense Healing Mask? Was your experience like mine?
Thank you for the honest review

Lol thanks hun but I don’t sleep with a silk/satin scar every night, I play with my edges/tips of my hair till it breaks. 🙂

I know right, I always need new products, my new batch of products arrived on Friday. 💃
Lol I think volume is the new length check plus I’d rather have highly dense hair than long low density hair.

Hi Bookie!!
I feel rather chuffed that you got the Intense Healing Mask relying on my review ^_^
Too bad it didn’t work out as well. 😦 Pele.
I wasn’t having any problems with breakage when I started using this DC, so I cannot rate its strengthening or powers of repair. However, I think you’re right about it not being a strong protein treatment. My hair isn’t a fan of protein. Strong protein for me must be followed with a very moisturising treatment, so the fact that I (could) use this every other week is proof to me that it isn’t protein-heavy. Anyone in need of fixing breakage may def want to supplement it with some mayo, or other protein treatment.

Hey girl!
I always like to try other people’s staple products, it makes the whole NH product shopping easier.
I couldn’t agree more, it’s more of a moisturizing DC than a protein based DC.

Yours is an excellent example of interesting writing. I think my students could learn a
lot from your way of writing and your articles. I may share this post with them.
